Deepika padukone with Saif - again in new film
The Love Aaj Kal couple, Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan, is back. They will star in a film to be produced by Saif's banner Illuminati Films and will start shooting in April 2011. The film was earlier supposed to star Imran Khan in lead and was to be produced by Dinesh Vijan but as it turns out, Saif is back in the project in the capacity of both, producer and actor. The untitled project has been scripted by Imtiaz Ali (Love Aaj Kal, Jab We Met) and will be directed by Homi Adajania (Being Cyrus). It will be shot in London, Spain and Delhi.
On bringing up parallels between this film and Love Aaj Kal, director Homi Adajania says, "It's a similar space from where Love Aaj Kal left off and then it roller-coasters from there. Imtiaz has given us a hysterical and open-minded celebration of relationships that explore the various choices that life may offer... and what people are willing to surrender for love or sacrifice for friendship."
Saif admits, "I was waiting for a script as contemporary and relevant as this to come my way and it has been worth the wait. I'm very excited about this story; it is romantic, funny and has a great balance of drama and entertainment. I've wanted to do a love story with a modern sensibility and treatment and I know that Homi will give us exactly that. I'm also looking forward to my pairing with Deepika again. She has a fantastic role in this and I think she has grown impressively since Love Aaj Kal and will handle it very well."
Talking about the film, Deepika says, "For me to do a romantic film is very exciting, and yet different, and to find a script like this, which is edgy and quirky, had an instant connect for me. It has a bit of everything, and I have seen Homi's Being Cyrus, and absolutely love his work. I have great respect for him and I'm confident, he is the perfect choice to direct this film. I haven't played shades of a character like this before. This film also marks the reunion of the Love Aaj Kal team, with Saif, Dinoo and me. I'm very excited to be working with Saif again, he is one of my favourite co-stars and I hope we can recreate the magic of Love Aaj Kal once again on screen."
Producer Dinesh Vijan is happy that they have taken their time and chosen their projects wisely. " At Illuminati, Saif and I have always wanted to develop projects of diverse genres and stories that we believe in... we want to take our time and create content that today's well-exposed audience might like. Imtiaz has given us a beautiful story, audience loved Saif and Deepika in Love Aaj Kal and I am happy that we could bring this pair together again," Vijan adds.

Deepika padukone hot news
Deepika Padukone is getting into shape to shoot the sizzling 'Dum Maaro Dum' track for Rohan Sippy's film of that title, at Yash Raj Studios on Tuesday. The Anand Bakshi-penned song re-written by Jaideep Sahni (who has scripted Yash Raj's Chak De and Rocket Singh - Salesman Of The Year) and re-composed by Pritam Chakraborty will be choreographed by Bosco-Caesar. The song will be shot in utter secrecy.
And now in the film's leading lady Bipasha Basu's absence (she's in Australia shooting for Roland Joffe's Singularity) the song is all set to sizzle with Deepika dazzling on the dance floor, her second item song. The first was with Shah Rukh Khan in Billu. This time she go-goes it alone.
Says a source from the crew, "It's a rave-party song. Deepika will be seen dancing to 'Dum Maaro Dum' at the party. At the end of the song, cop Abhishek Bachchan will raid the rave party. So even he can't be part of the song."
Adds the source, "'Dum Maaro Dum' could never have been filmed on Bipasha. Her character cannot be present during the time when the song happens."
However, that's not the impression Bipasha had been given.
The song is being shot in a great rush. Apparently, composer Pritam Chakraborty has not even decided on the voice to be used to sing 'Dum Maaro Dum'.
"They're going ahead to shoot the dance with a scratch recording," whispers the source. Let's hope Bipasha doesn't raid Deepika's rave party before Abhishek does.

Deepika padukone in "Dum maro dum"
The song which was much in news with dev anand fuming over how Rohan could have got the rights of the song, has finally begun shooting. Deepika is set to do her first big out-and-out item number, even though she had done a special song for Shah Rukh Khan in Billu, with a song that Zeenat Aman had immortalised. Deepika is to be seen in a never before avatar.
However, director Rohan is zealously guarding Deepika's look in the song and has issued orders that the set should be guarded round the clock. Reason being he does not want to give away Deepika's look and is taking stringent measures to avoid leaking her look. The song Dum Maro Dum has been remixed by Pritam and has a contemporary feel to it. (Courtesy-TOI)
Deepika Padukone's new film
Deepika padukone portrays Kalpana Datta in Ashutosh Gowariker's forthcoming film Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey. In the film, Deepika plays a girl who's from a rich, influential family, independent, educated and has an interest in the science of making explosives.
Deepika padukone on Abhi ...
I had a wonderful time working with Abhishek. He is much senior to me in the industry and it was a learning experience to share the frame with him.
On the film ...
The film made me aware about some really important incidents. If I would have lived in that period, I'd have been a part of the freedom struggle.
Now after doing the film, I am surprised that so many people are still unaware of the Chittagong Uprising, about Surjya and his several associates. People are aware of other revolutionaries but not Surjya Sen. It is shocking how he has been overlooked.
Special homework ... .
We had little idea of how Kalpana looked or carried herself. Manini Chatterjee took keen interest in the movie making process as well. I completely surrendered myself to my director to bring out the best in me.
I had to go the de-glam way to portray Kalpana Datta. I dressed up like the common Bengali village girls and used to ride bicycle wearing sari. In a period film, if you fail to carry the look right, the entire effort is a waste. Off camera, Abhishek and others used to tease me for my avatar, especially for those pigtails.
Do you like wearing sari?
Sari is just the right attire that can bring out the sensuality in any woman. I love wearing them, even flaunted one at Cannes. (Courtesy-TOI)
Deepika Padukone's new fan Hrithi Roshan
Deepika padukone has added a new fan to her long list of admirers. This time it's none other the hunk of B-town Hrihthik Roshan.
Hrithik, who recently saw Deepika padukone’s film, has apparently been blown away by it, more with Deepika's performance in it. A birdie overheard Hrithik gushing to Deepika padukone about how much he loved her performance. In fact, he even advised her to only do challenging roles in future that do justice to her talent. Deepika padukone was humbled at receiving a compliment from such a fine actor. (Courtesy-TOI)
