Deepika Padukone Biography

Deepika Padukone, was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. She is the daughter of former badminton Champion Prakash Padukone.

At the fifth annual Kingfisher Fashion awards for Indian models and designers, she was awarded the title of Model of the Year. Shortly after wards, she was chosen as one of the models for the Kingfisher Swimsuit Calendar for 2006, thus cementing her reputation as a supermodel. She also bagged two trophies at the Idea Zee F awards in 2006 - female Model of the year (Commercial Assignments) and Fresh Face of the year.

Deepika is easily one of the most recognizable faces in Bollywood. With back-to-back monster hits like "Om Shanti Om", "Love Aaj Kal" and "Housefull", at such an early stage in her career, she is today a force to reckon with in the Indian film industry.

Being the daughter of former badminton champion, Prakash Padukone, Deepika is naturally blessed with her father's athletic genes and could have easily made her mark in the world of sports. However, she decided to venture into a new direction - skywards.

John Abraham and Deepika Padukone bonded really well at London where they are shooting for Desi Boyz. The two actors spent a good time getting to know each other and becoming friends first as it is their first film together.

The duo surprised the whole unit by cracking jokes, going out for coffee and hanging out together and discussing personal and professional issues. Sources reveal that John and Deepika have become really good friends and even talked about his break up and the low phase in his life with her. Though the London schedule is over, they are still in touch and are looking forward to working together again. the Lakme Fashion Week show on March 30 had the final act from actor-turned-show stopper Ranbir Kapoor who walked the ramp for Arjun Khanna in a brown, heavily embroidered sherwani. Not to mention, her current love interest, Deepika Padukone was there to cheer him sitting in the first row bonding well and chatting with mom Neetu Singh.

Ranbir, with his face and hair painted golden started with his signature dance step from the title song of ‘Saawariya’. Then, spotting Deepika in the first row, he gave a romantic twist to the show by blowing a ‘kiss’ straight to her lady love right from the ramp. ”There couldn`t have a better confession of love than this. Ranbir made it clear at the LFW that Deepika is his love interest,” said Rashmi Singh, who attended the show.

“Before I came here I didn’t know that my face would be painted golden. Only when I reached the venue and sat on a (backstage) to get the make-up done, I got to know about it. But I enjoyed the whole experience,” Ranbir said about his looks for the show.

Deepika being a successful model and Ranbir being a debutante on the ramp, the obvious one was whether the Kapoor kid took tips from the lady. “No I did not take any tips from Deepika before walking the ramp. I had never walked the ramp before. It was the first time for me but I was quite confident. It proved to be an excellent experience,” Ranbir coolly answered this one

Deepika Padukone purchases Rs. 16 cr Apartment at Prabhadevi

If you have the fame and fortune, it’s only natural to think about future investments. Well Deepika Padukone is smartly investing in real estate. The actress has recently purchased a sprawling 2,776 sq foot four bed roomed apartment with three parking slots in BeauMonde Towers, Prabhadevi.

The said flat is on the 26th floor of a 33-storey tower which comes with a price tag of a whopping Rs.16 crore. But for a place that is as close to the Siddhivinayak temple, we guess it’s worth every penny spent.

It is also learnt that the actress and her father had visited the property registration office at the Old Custom House in Fort to pay stamp duty for their new apartment, which amounted to approximately Rs. 79, 82,600, and was done jointly in Deepika and her father’s name. Well, I think he is at a stage in his life right now where he’s being spoken about rather than him speaking to people.

His good looks, his caring nature and the fact that he has lost so much weight.

Rumour has it that he has bought you a house.
Honestly, I’ve been independent from the start of my career. I moved out of home at the age of 20. I started modelling when I was 18. I started my first film when I was 21. Today when I’ve worked a little harder I’ve bought myself a bigger home in Prabhadevi. It’s my dream home. I definitely don’t a needa man to get me any of this. Sid himself lives with his father (Dr Vijay Mallya) and hasn’t bought himself a house. Why would he buy me one?

You’ve never admitted to your relationship with Siddharth. But recently when his team Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Kolkata Knight Riders, you hugged and kissed him in public. Is that an acknowledgement of your special bond?
Well, we both are huge cricket fans. He is the owner of the team and I’m from Bangalore. When the team plays well, we’ll definitely celebrate and not look in the opposite direction
